Under Section 49 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, if a vehicle owner changes their residence, they must report the new address to the RTO within 30 days. Failing to do so can result in penalties and issues with insurance claims or RC renewals.

Procedure for Address Change:
To change the address on your vehicle's Registration Certificate, you need to submit RTO Form 33. The application must be sent to the RTO in whose jurisdiction you now reside.

Required Documents:
  • RTO Form 33 (Application for intimation of change of address)
  • Original Registration Certificate (RC)
  • New Address Proof (Aadhaar Card, Election Card, LIC Policy, or Utility Bill)
  • Valid Insurance Certificate
  • Valid PUC Certificate
  • Chassis Print of the vehicle

If the vehicle is under a loan, you must also obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the financier to change the address.
