NCRB stands for the National Crime Records Bureau. When applying for certain RTO services, such as a duplicate RC or state-to-state transfer, the RTO requires an NCRB clearance report.

Why is it required?
The NCRB report acts as a verification certificate proving that the vehicle is not blacklisted, has not been reported as stolen, and is not involved in any ongoing criminal investigation, theft cases, or court disputes. It ensures that fraudulent transactions of stolen vehicles are blocked.

How to get it:
Vehicle owners or agents can check and download the vehicle NOC/clearance status online via the Digital Police portal or the local police department. The report checks the engine and chassis numbers against national criminal databases. The RTO will not process duplicate RC requests or transfer NOCs without a clear NCRB status report.
